Alabama, Florida get apologies

Alabama and Florida were among the schools receiving apologies from Southern California athletic director Mike Garrett for being wrongly accused of illegally contacting USC freshman running back Dillon Baxter.

Garrett sent letters of apology to both Alabama athletic director Mal Moore and Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley.

Originally, USC director of compliance Matt Billings had informed a Pac-10 official via a letter that Alabama and Florida, along with Fresno State, Oregon and Washington, had contacted Baxter after the NCAA levied sanctions against the Trojans. However, Garrett wrote in his letter that he had since spoken to Baxter, who said he had not received calls from Alabama or Florida.
