Ward latest assistant to move within SEC

It's been one of those years where SEC assistants and former SEC assistants have come and gone within the conference at a blistering pace.

The latest is Arkansas' Lorenzo Ward, who told the Charleston Post and Courier on Monday that he's joining South Carolina's staff as defensive coordinator. Ward was the Razorbacks' secondary coach last season and coached the defensive backs. He was a special teams assistant with the Oakland Raiders from 2006-'07. He also coached at Virginia Tech from 1999-2005.

With Ward taking on the defensive coordinator title at South Carolina, that means current South Carolina defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson is probably in line for some type of promotion as far as title. He's already the Gamecocks' assistant head coach.
