Two practices were enough for Georgia freshman linebacker Dexter Morant to call it quits.
Morant, who was going to get a look at outside linebacker in the Bulldogs' new 3-4 scheme, has left the program.
Morant's high school coach told The Athens Banner-Herald that Morant plans to give up football for good. Georgia coach Mark Richt is expected to weigh in on the matter following practice Wednesday.
"We are extremely disappointed in the decision that Dexter made,” Manning (S.C.) High School coach Robbie Briggs said. “We have nothing but the utmost respect for the University of Georgia. We’re just saddened by the decision that he made to give up football all together. After my conversation with him last night coming home, he has no plans to play football. He is going to concentrate all of his energies on academics.”
