A few SEC weekend recruiting updates thanks to Tom Luginbill and ESPN's Scouts Inc. A lot of prospects are waiting until national signing day on Wednesday to announce their decisions.

D.T. Shackelford, ILB

  • Decatur, Ala.

  • Austin H.S.

  • Scouts Grade: 77

  • Position Rank: 20

Rated No. 20 among inside linebackers, D.T. Shackelford of Austin (Decatur, Ala.) has changed his commitment from Tennessee to Mississippi.

Shackelford, a 6-foot-1, 225 prospect, also considered Auburn. Among his other offers were South Carolina, Vanderbilt, LSU, Marshall, Mississippi State, Kentucky, UAB, Stanford, Louisville and Army.

Joel Kight, OLB

  • Lithonia, Ga.

  • Martin Luther King H.S.

His lack of height pushed him down in the linebacker rankings, but the 5-foot-9, 200-pound Kight could find himself playing safety in college.

Selected Ole Miss over Oklahoma State, Auburn, Duke and Boston College. Also played running back in high school.

Demond Washington, RB

  • Tallassee, Ala.

  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Comm College (MS)

Running back / cornerback Demond Washington of Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, Miss., has declared for the Tigers and decommitted from Mississippi.

Originally from Tallassee, Ala., Washington also drew offers from Southern Mississippi, Louisville, Memphis, Minnesota, UAB, Southern Mississippi, Northern Illinois and Ohio.

Gerald West, CB

  • Mobile, Ala.

  • Faith Academy

  • Scouts Grade: 78

  • Position Rank: 24

Cornerback Gerald West, who committed to the Tide six months ago, has dropped his pledge with Alabama and is now set to sign with Southern Miss, ESPN affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com reports.

He said, "I'm going to go to Southern Miss. It's closer to home. I've been thinking about it all week."
