McKenzie back with Auburn, Billings still waiting

Thanks to reports from Auburn beat writer Evan Woodbery of The Mobile Press-Register, we find out that tight end Gabe McKenzie has returned to full participation after missing the spring because of undisclosed health issues.

That's the good news for the Tigers.

The status of receiver Montez Billings is still up in the air. Coach Gene Chizik told The Press-Register that Billings is still working through an academic issue even though he graduated earlier this month.

Billings missed spring practice. He's the Tigers' leading returning receiver, catching 24 passes for 277 yards last season.

The receiver position was already a huge question mark going into next season, although it helps tremendously that heralded signee DeAngelo Benton has made it through the NCAA Clearinghouse and will be eligible to play.
