Predicting the 2012 preseason top 10

College football analyst Phil Steele has an impressive track record when it comes to predicting the Associated Press' preseason top 10 for that next season.

He's nailed nine of the 10 teams teams each of the past three years and has already unveiled what he thinks will be the AP preseason top 10 for the 2012 season. Keep in mind that this is not his preseason top 10, but how he thinks the pollsters will vote come August.

Steele predicts four SEC teams will be in the AP top 10 with LSU holding down the No. 1 preseason spot. He has Alabama at No. 3, Georgia at No. 6 and Arkansas at No. 9. Steele also thinks there's a chance that South Carolina could show up in the AP's preseason top 10.

Here's the entire top 10:

1. LSU

2. USC

3. Alabama

4. Oregon

5. Oklahoma

6. Georgia

7. Michigan

8. Florida State

9. Arkansas

10. West Virginia
