Back by popular demand is our SEC blog fantasy challenge.
While Chris took home the coveted picks title last year, the rookie took home fantasy gold. I believe I even overcame a six-game losing streak to edge out the old guy. Granted, Chris did forget to set his lineup a couple of weeks, but we know that losers should never make excuses.
This year, Chris vowed to keep up and regain some fantasy dignity. We'll see if it even matters ...
We were a little swamped last week, so we postponed our draft until this week. Honestly, not much would have been different for either of us had we held the draft last week.
As the defending champ, I took the first pick in the draft and I went with the point-producing Tyler Wilson from Arkansas. I usually stick with running backs early, but I just have a feeling that Wilson will dominate the air and the end zone this year for the high-scoring Hogs.
Chris went the quarterback route as well, grabbing Tennessee's Tyler Bray. Good pick. If he can make it through a full season, Bray has a chance to light up scoreboards around the SEC.
I had a classic case of being wowed early when I took Cordarrelle Patterson later in the draft. Chris snickered at the pick, saying I was riding high on Tennessee's new wide receiver, but I feel like Patterson will only get better in Tennessee's offense. Just wait.
With the final pick, Chris took Missouri quarterback James Franklin. He's hoping to benefit from Franklin's dual-threat ability, but it's a lot tougher to run in this league than it is the Big 12 ...
