More eyes will be on No. 1 Alabama's matchup with No. 15 Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa, Ala., as the game has been tabbed as this week's Davey O'Brien Marquee Match-up.
The game will feature two Davey O'Brien semifinalists in Alabama's AJ McCarron and Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel. They have been the cream of the quarterback crop in the SEC this year. Manziel might be the SEC's most exciting player, ranking second in the league with 2,527 passing yards and ranking first with 922 rushing yards. He's also combined to throw and run for 40 touchdowns.
McCarron doesn't have the gaudy numbers that have made Manziel so popular, but he's been one of the country's most efficient quarterbacks. He has 1,849 passing yards and 19 touchdowns to zero interceptions. He's also third nationally with a quarteback rating of 173.55. McCarron is fresh off his almost flawless game-winning drive against LSU where he completed four of his five pass attempts for 72 yards, including the game-winning 28-yard screen pass to running back T.J. Yeldon.
Fans can show their support for Manziel and McCarron, as well as any of the other 14 semifinalists, by visiting the award's voting website. Fans can vote as often as once each day, and the fan vote will count as 5 percent of the total vote in determining the finalists.
