Meyer hires new receivers coach

Florida coach Urban Meyer didn't waste any time in bringing aboard a new receivers coach.

With Billy Gonzales leaving to join the LSU staff, Meyer announced Friday that he had hired Zach Azzanni, who's been the assistant head coach/receivers coach at Central Michigan the last three seasons. Before that, Azzanni was at Bowling Green. He worked as a graduate assistant under Meyer at Bowling Green in 2001 and 2002.

"He is a tireless worker, relentless recruiter and a great teacher of fundamentals," Meyer said. "He is also very familiar with our philosophy and will be a good fit with our players and staff.”

Azzanni, who has spent the last seven years coaching wide receivers, tutored a pair of record setting wide receivers at Central Michigan, which captured its third conference title and secured a fourth straight January bowl appearance.
