Safety Major Wright became the fifth Florida underclassman to declare for the NFL draft when he announced Tuesday that he was giving up his senior season with the Gators.
Of the five players who've declared, Wright is probably the longest shot to be picked high in the draft.
He's a big-time hitter from his safety position, but limited in his coverage skills.
Wright joins cornerback Joe Haden, tight end Aaron Hernandez, defensive end Carlos Dunlap and center Maurkice Pouncey as Florida juniors who are leaving early.
Counting seniors, the Gators are losing seven of the 11 players who started on defense in the Allstate Sugar Bowl. Five of the starters on offense will be leaving.
