Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen has filled the voids on his defensive coaching staff with the hiring of Manny Diaz and Chris Wilson.
Diaz, who has been at Middle Tennessee the last four seasons, will be the Bulldogs' defensive coordinator and coach linebackers. Diaz replaces Carl Torbush, who left to be the defensive coordinator at Kansas.
The Bulldogs finished 11th in the SEC last season in total defense and were also 11th in sacks. Diaz's defense at Middle Tennessee finished second nationally in tackles for loss and sixth nationally in sacks.
Wilson was on the Oklahoma staff for the last five seasons and coached defensive linemen. The Sooners finished in the top five nationally in rushing defense three times during Wilson's five seasons in Norman.
