Vanderbilt is back in a bowl game

Vanderbilt is headed back to a bowl game for the first time since 2008.

The Commodores will face Cincinnati in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Dec. 31, in Memphis, Tenn.

Vanderbilt coach James Franklin promised things would be different and he and his team delivered. This team was much more exciting to watch and had some bullish attitude as well.

But the job isn't done. It's time to take the next step and win in the postseason. The regular season surely gave this program some momentum, but to end the year in the win column should have people within that program -- and considering it -- even more fired up about Vanderbilt football heading into Franklin's second year.

Cincinnati didn't last long against Tennessee earlier this season, while Vandy lost a heartbreaker to the Vols.

It could be a fun talking point for both teams leading up to kickoff.
