SUPER BOWL XLIV TIDBITS: The Saints could become the first team to win in their Super Bowl debut since the Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII. The Colts have won their last 2 trips to the Big Game, they can become the 9th franchise with at least 3 Lombardi Trophies. And for just the third time since seeding began in 1990, the Super Bowl matches the top seed from each conference. RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY, DOME TEAMS HAVE TO PLAY: No city has hosted the Super Bowl MORE than Miami. Sunday's game between the Saints and Colts marks the 10th time its been held in South Florida's popular destination. A destination which is popular for, among other things, SUNNY weather. But unfortunately the rain has cause media day to be moved indoors today. When The Saints Reggie Bush was asked whether the RAIN affected his team in any way, Reggie replied, "Well, it's put a damper on things."

NOT YOUR AVERAGE ROOKIE: Caldwell is just the 5th coach in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl in his first season. He's the first to do so since Bill Callahan led the Raiders to Super Bowl XXXVII, 7 years ago. Caldwell will try to join George Seifert and Don McCafferty to win a Super Bowl in their first season as a head coach.

MANNING EATS PRESSURE FOR LUNCH: This season it really didn't matter how much pressure teams brought at Peyton Manning. He did stretch the field more when given time against 5 or more pass rushers. Manning's 9.0 yards per attempt in the regular season against added pressure was ranked 4th best in the NFL. You've been warned New Orleans, you've been warned.

FROM DIVISION III TO SUPER BOWL XLIV: Pierre Garcon has certainly made an impact in his second season with the Colts. A 6th-round draft pick in 2008 from Mount Union, he had 47 receptions during the regular season for 765 yards and 4 touchdowns. Garcon has pleasant memories from Miami ... his first NFL touchdown catch was the game winner in the Colts victory over the Dolphins back in Week 2 this season.

Florida currently has the top class according to ESPNU rankings. You can hear about all the signings starting at 9 AM eastern on SportsCenter and 10 AM eastern on ESPNU. According to Tom Luginbill, Director of Recruiting for ESPN Scouts Inc., Seantrel Henderson is thought to be the best recruit yet to commit. He was just named the Parade National Player of the Year. The 6-8, 300-pound-plus O-lineman was linked by reports to Ohio State, but his father said six schools remain in play (including USC, Miami, Notre Dame, Florida). Will be interesting to see if he lands in C-Bus or if he signs with Miami -- Luginbill believes he could become a future first round NFL draft pick.




Grizzlies 95 - Lakers 93

GOING BACK TO CALI: Kobe Bryant scored 44 points in the Lakers’ 95-93 loss to the Grizzlies on Monday. In doing so, he passes Jerry West for the most points scored by a Laker with 25,208. Bryant also moved into 14th-place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Kobe has left little doubt who owns California. Bryant has scored at least 1,250 points against four NBA franchises, and three of them - the Kings, Clippers, and Warriors - call the Golden State home. The Lakers finish their 8-game road trip 5-3. During the trip they outscored opponents by 5 points per game. Kobe Bryant averaged 28 per game. The Lakers next game is Wednesday against the Bobcats, 10:30ET at the Staples Center. Who is the greatest Laker of all time? We posed the question to the SportsNation and Kobe currently sits in second behind Magic Johnson. Results are as follows:

Louisville 82, Connecticut 69

BUBBLE WATCH: Louisville is able to maintain its 19-point 2nd half lead to defeat Connecticut by 13. The Cardinals have won 8 of their last 9 conference home games and are now 3-4 vs Connecticut since joining the Big East. Four starters scored in double-figures for Louisville including a team-high 15 points from Edgar Sosa.

Connecticut continues to struggle as the team has lost 3 straight and 6 of 8 overall. The Huskies are 0-5 in true road games after going 9-1 last season. It's a nice conference win for Louisville over UConn, but both Big East powers are struggling this season. The Huskies and Cardinals are a combined 8-10 in conference play and both currently rank outside the RPI top 40. The two have won just one of their 9 games against teams teams in the top 25 of the RPI. Better get your game-on fellas, or your bubbles are going to burst come March.
