THINKING BIG 10 TITLE: Michigan State's regular-season fate in the Big Ten will be pretty much decided in the next two games, both of which are against the teams that played each other on Wednesday. Saturday the Spartans host Ohio State. And then the following Saturday, Michigan State plays at Purdue hoping to exact some revenge on the team that won by 12 on February 9. MORE: Big 10 Standings
PROVIDENCE HITS THE WALL...AGAIN: In the Big East, Providence gets pounded again by its third top 10 ranked opponent. The Mountaineers build a 18-point halftime lead en route to their 7th win in their last 9 games overall. Devin Ebanks led the team with 21 points, his first 20+ point game since December 26. The Mountaineers posted a +15 rebounding margin in the win, improving to 42-4 in their last 46 against unranked teams. For the Friars, Jamine Peterson contributes 20 points and 15 rebounds, the latter of which is remarkably 7 rebounds off his season-high. The Friars have lost 4 of their last 5 conference home games and 6 straight vs the Mountaineers. The Friars hope to rebound against their fourth straight top 10 opponent when they take on number 5 Syracuse next Tuesday.

TEXAS STUMBLES AGAIN: What happened to Texas? The Longhorns were once the top ranked team in the country. Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Missouri snaps a 2-game losing streak vs ranked opponents as Missouri takes the 5-point upset win over Texas. The Tigers continue their success at home as the team has won 34 of their last 35 home games and have won 2 straight at home vs Texas after losing 4 straight. Kim English led Missouri with a team-high 20 points for his 10th 20-point game this season. The key for Missouri was its free throw shooting as the Tigers went 24-29 from the line while Texas went 10-19. Texas continues its slump as the team has lost 6 of 9 after starting the season 17-0 and have lost 5 of its last 7 conference road games. Jordan Hamilton finished with a game-high 24 points and Damion James and Avery Bradley both had 18 in the loss for the Longhorns.

WELCOME BACK: There's usually no World Series hangover for the Yankees. They've repeated as champions 13 times, which is still more titles than any other team has won -- period -- hurts Red Sox fans doesn't it. And they've at least reached the Fall Classic in each of their last 3 times as defending champions. The Yankees were the only team to win over 100 games last season, going 103-59. I'm sure your wondering what the record was of the worst team in the big leagues -- at the other end of the spectrum, the Nationals ended the season 59-103, but landed pitcher phenom Stephen Strasburg.
