Welcome to the NFL's version of Christmas day. Everyone's gathering by the stage, sitting here, sitting there, in hopes that a team savior, soon will be introduced wearing your team's colors. I'm so ready for Commissioner Roger Goodell to say the words we've been waiting so long to hear, officially: "The St. Louis Rams are on the clock! The presents up for grabs are some of the most talented athletes on the planet, wrapped in brightly colored suits.
Which reminds me. At the NBA draft, it seems the suits are the talk of the whole thing. How many buttons, stripes, or colors will we see? Short ties, long ties, or lately, bow ties? Fashion has taken a back seat to real news for the NFL, though. Talk of Ben Roethlisberger's suspension, and all the events leading up to that. Will he be traded? Remember when we were just worried about Tim Tebow's throwing motion? Or who the Jets fans are going to boo this year? My, how times have changed, along with the news cycle. At least we can still debate whether Sam Bradford will spend more time on his back or on the sidelines in St. Louis. Unless the Rams trade the pick. To the Steelers. Now that would be news. For now, I'll just count down the hours and minutes until Santa Goodell strolls to the microphone and delivers us our yearly rite of passage. The guy who will make our team a Super Bowl contender. That's what today is all about. Merry Draft day!
