CAN U DIG IT?
With all due respect to the Riffs, Baseball Furies, and Mets, the Yankees are the most powerful gang in New York. They came out to play last night, building a 2.5-game lead over the Rays in the East by building a 5-0 lead over the Rays in the first and cruising to an 8-3 win. And they're also the most dramatic gang in New York. Because in the third, Jorge Posada hopped over to first after a pitch by James Shields hopped in the dirt. But was Posada really hit by the pitch? Was this really Derek Jeter the cheater all over again? Was it really much better than Cats? "We're in New York, we're also close to the theater district and more power to them," said Rays manager Joe Maddon. But in the end, the baseball gods had their say. Because with two outs in the ninth, Posada was hit in the groin by a foul tip off of the bat of Evan Longoria. Posada was checked out by a professional and stayed in the game. So all's well that ends well.
More from The Rundown, including Vincent's price, and why Jerry Jones' big deal isn't so big anymore, after the jump.
With all due respect to Michael Vick, who today resumes his preparations to restart under center for the Eagles on Sunday, the Wednesday NFL headlines figure to belong to Vincent Jackson, who today resumes his preparations to restart his career for anyone other than the Chargers. Jackson and the Chargers face a 4:00 ET deadline to agree to a trade out of San Diego. If they do, he'll only have to miss the first four games of the season. If they don't, he'll only be able to be traded after Week 6 (October 17th) and before the NFL's actual trade deadline (October 19th). And if they don't do it then, then the whole thing is just laughable.

Charlotte Motor Speedway is laughing at Jerry Jones and the puny little TV he installed at the Stadium he built in Arlington. Because just in time for next year's Coca-Cola 600, the track will install the world's newest largest HD video board - one that's 200 feet wide and 80 feet tall. That's 16,000 square feet, right there.
