NLDS Game 2: Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies
Bronson Arroyo vs Roy Oswalt
Friday at 6:07 ET on TBS
Can you say back-to-back no-hitters? For real, can you? Roy Oswalt has dominated the Reds with a 23-3 record and a 2.81 ERA against Cincinnati during his career. Wait, it gets worse. Since 2009, Cincinnati is 0-7 on the road versus the Phils, and during that span they've batted a measly .201. However, there is reason for Reds fans to remain optimistic. The last time Cincinnati faced Oswalt (July 24 against the Astros) they tagged him for six earned runs over five innings with Joey Votto hitting his 25th home run off Oswalt in the first inning. So Reds fans, as you prepare to cheer on your team MVP, you may want to purchase a pair of Votto's game-used batting gloves to protect your hands from stinging.
No. 1 Alabama at No. 19 South Carolina
Saturday at 3:30 ET on CBS
The Gamecocks are 0-4 all-time against the nation's No. 1 ranked team with their most recent loss coming in 2009 when Florida defeated South Carolina in front of its home crowd. Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier hasn't had much luck against top-ranked teams either. He's 1-4 all-time against No. 1 teams with his only win coming in 1996 when Florida defeated Florida State, 52-20, in the Sugar Bowl to give his Gators the National Title. In other words, everything is tilted Bama's way. So, before it's too late, you may want to start investing in Nick Saban gear before prices sky rocket. May we interest you in a Nick Saban painting that looks like Don Johnson and Pat Sajak gave birth to him?
No. 18 Michigan State at No. 17 Michigan
Saturday at 3:30 ET on ABC
This is just the third time ever that both teams began their seasons 5-0 (1997 and 1999 were the two previous times). And the last time these two teams met as ranked opponents was 2003 when No. 11 Michigan defeated No. 9 Michigan State. The Spartans have won the last two meetings, but sophomore Denard Robinson was not the Wolverines starting quarterback for either of those games. Speaking of Denard Robinson, he's one of the early favorites to take home this year's Heisman Trophy with 1,008 passing yards, eight touchdowns and one interception to go along with 905 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. If you're looking to purchase some Robinson Heisman gear we're partial to this tee and if you want something warmer, we recommend this sweatshirt.
Philadelphia Eagles at San Francisco 49ers
Sunday at 8:20 ET on NBC
That's right Eagles fans, it's time to open up your closets, find those boxes you sealed up, and bust out your Kevin Kolb jerseys once again. Kolb makes his first career start away from home Sunday night as the Eagles visit the winless 49ers. For the first time since 2004, San Francisco is 0-4 and not since 1979 have the 49ers lost their first five games of the season. The 49ers were picked by many experts to win the NFC West mainly because of their defense, but their defensive squad hasn't lived up to its preseason billing. Maybe they should switch to a camouflage jersey? You know, so offenses can't see them. And even if they don't, you should. These jerseys work well for paintball and hunting as well.
