EARTH CITY, Mo. -- St. Louis Rams rookie receiver Tavon Austin did not practice Wednesday but coach Jeff Fisher said afterward that his prized rookie is at least making progress toward a return from his ankle injury.
"He's getting better," Fisher said, taking his usual mostly silent approach to injury updates. "Day to day."
Austin watched Wednesday's practice from the sideline but was missing the walking boot he wore at the end of last week. That would seem to offer at least some sign of progress from last week. On Monday, Fisher indicated that he and the Rams were hopeful Austin would be able to practice at some point this week.
Elsewhere on the injury report, running back Daryl Richardson (thigh) also did not practice.
