Morning Ram-blings: Standing by Bradford

EARTH CITY, Mo. -- On Tuesday evening, I wrote a story based on the pre-draft news conference of St. Louis Rams general manager Les Snead and coach Jeff Fisher. It's title was "Rams stand by Bradford, leave wiggle room."

On Wednesday night, the Rams did more than the figurative version of standing by Sam Bradford, they literally stood together on a stage. At what was supposed to be an event for season ticket holders, Twitter reports from fans and a few media members, including this tweet from the NFL Network's Michael Silver, surfaced that Fisher not only reaffirmed his words about Bradford but did so with the quarterback standing nearby.

None of this is groundbreaking stuff in the sense that it only puts a little more emphasis on what Fisher and Snead said earlier. Giving Bradford a vote of confidence is nothing new. Doing it in front of your most important customers with him standing nearby is even stronger.

As for all the rumors about Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, it's always been unlikely the Rams would take him in the first round and even more of a long shot that they would do it at No. 2. It would appear those odds are even less than they appeared just 24 hours ago.

Regardless of whether it's all been a smokescreen or any of the other speculation, the best news of all is that today is draft day. Mercifully. Finally.
