A weekly examination of the Rams' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 15 | Last Week: 15 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
The St. Louis Rams made their first move in this week's edition of the Power Rankings after suffering their first loss of the year Sunday against the Falcons. After spending the first two weeks in the middle of the pack at No. 15, the Rams dropped two spots to No. 17 this week.
The voting panel placed the Rams mostly in lockstep with four of the six votes ranking the Rams at No. 16 or 17. However, two voters downgraded the Rams in a bigger way this week. John Clayton and Kevin Seifert had St. Louis at No. 21.
Two weeks into the season, a 1-1 record for the Rams should come as no surprise given the Rams' schedule. They took care of business against Arizona at home and dropped a game to the Falcons many expected them to lose.
The mistakes that have plagued the Rams in the first two weeks are a concern moving forward, but they have shown the ability to be resilient and bounce back from slow starts with strong finishes. At this point, No. 17 seems about right.
