Week 2 helmet stickers

Stanford finally got its season under way Saturday with a 34-13 win over San Jose State, and these players earned helmet stickers:

RB Tyler Gaffney: Gaffney was rewarded handsomely for putting the breaks on a promising baseball career to fulfill his football eligibility on The Farm. He carried a career-high 20 times for 104 yards and scored two touchdowns. If Gaffney runs like that all season, an NFL team will come calling.

WR Ty Montgomery: After an injury-plagued sophomore year, Montgomery showed flashes of the explosive player he was at the end of his true freshman season in 2011. He caught four passes for 81 yards and a score -- barreling through two San Jose State defenders -- and showcased improved speed on a 36-yard kickoff return.

S Ed Reynolds: Reynolds had a team-high 12 tackles and picked off San Jose State quarterback David Fales to extend Stanford's national-best takeaway streak to 25 games. His 301 interception return yards led the nation last year -- and fell one shy of the NCAA record -- but Saturday's pick saw no return.
