Badgers avoid hangover, win Heartland

One week after upsetting the top-ranked Buckeyes, Wisconsin shows no sign of a hangover, beating a ranked opponent in back-to-back weeks for the first time since October 2004. The Badgers are the first team to defeat a No. 1 AP team in the regular season and win their next game since Texas Tech in 2008, and just the fourth team since 2002.

The Badgers also snap a two-game losing streak against the Hawkeyes, taking back the Heartland Trophy, and even the all-time series at 42-42-2. Iowa had won its last eight “travelling trophy” games, with their last such loss coming in 2007 also against Wisconsin.

Iowa Rush Defense This Season

Prior to last week’s game against Michigan, the Hawkeyes’ rush defense was one of the best in the country and had yet to give up a touchdown on the ground. After the Badgers rushed for 142 yards and three touchdowns Saturday, Iowa has now allowed 329 yards and five scores on the ground in its last two games.
