Call it the calm before the storm, but there was very little movement in the conference ratings from last week. A large number of schools have finished their intra-conference schedules, meaning there should be a lot of action with these ratings in the coming weeks.
The Big 12, Big Ten and Pac-10 are still all hovering within a few points of each other. The Mountain West and WAC are also in a tight race for the fifth spot.
The Big East and ACC will need huge bowl seasons to recapture their place with the rest of the BCS conferences. It actually starts this week for the ACC as they get three shots at the No. 1-ranked SEC with Clemson, Georgia Tech and Florida State facing in-state rivals South Carolina, Georgia and Florida, respectively.
