Nick Stevens is the player to watch in Famous Idaho Potato Bowl

Colorado State quarterback Nick Stevens' 89.5 Total QBR would be the second-highest in the FBS if he had played enough snaps to qualify. Since reclaiming the starting job in Week 7, however, Stevens' 94.2 Total QBR is actually the highest in the nation. Overall, he's been one of the best quarterbacks in the second half of the season. He'll try to finish his junior season on a high note against Idaho in Thursday's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The Rams went 4-2 in their final six games with Stevens under center, including back-to-back wins over bowl participants New Mexico and San Diego State to end the regular season. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is a chance for Colorado State and its junior quarterback to gain even more momentum heading into the 2017 season. Stevens and 14 other starters are expected to return next season.

Colorado State has made a bowl game in four straight seasons, its longest streak since a five-year run from 1999-2003. The Rams have lost five of their last seven bowl games, including last year's 28-23 setback against Nevada in the Arizona Bowl. Idaho, on the other hand, won this bowl game in 1998 and 2009 (when it was called the Humanitarian Bowl). Those were Idaho's only two bowl appearances in school history. With a victory on Thursday, the Vandals can become the only active FBS team to have an undefeated record in bowl games with at least three appearances.

The Vandals are seeking their ninth win of the season, which would be their highest total since 1998. The Vandals won just nine games over their previous five seasons combined. As if there needed to be any more motivation, this might be the last bowl game ever for Idaho. After next season, the Vandals plan to move down to the FCS level.
