Arkansas and Texas A&M get offensive

No. 18 Arkansas beat No. 14 Texas A&M 42-38 as the Aggies blew a big halftime lead for the second straight week. The Razorbacks beat A&M for the third consecutive season and the Aggies have lost seven straight against SEC teams since their last win in 1995.

Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson threw for 510 yards, breaking Ryan Mallett’s school record by more than 100 yards. Mallett, who did it four times, is the only other player with a 400-yard game in school history.

Most Pass Yards in a Game SEC History

It’s also the fifth-highest total in SEC history, not far behind the record of 544, set by Georgia’s Eric Zeier in 1993.

Jarius Wright was Wilson’s big target, catching 13 passes for a school-record 281 yards, a record he had broken at halftime. It’s the second-most receiving yards in a game in SEC history and the second-most by any FBS player this season.

The Aggies led by 18 points into the third quarter after blowing a 17-point halftime lead against Oklahoma State last week. According to Elias, Texas A&M is the only team since 2005 to lose consecutive games in which it led by 17 or more at the half.

Texas A&M 2nd Half Defense Past 2 Weeks

The Aggies have been outscored 52-12 in the second half the past two weeks when their defense has surrendered nearly 600 yards of total offense.

It’s the third straight year these teams have met at the new Cowboys Stadium and Arkansas has won all three meetings. Texas A&M hasn’t beaten Arkansas since 1991.

The Aggies are about to join the SEC, but they haven't been able to beat 'em. They're 0-7 in their past seven chances and haven't topped an SEC team since beating LSU in 1995.
