Eli Manning won his second Super Bowl MVP award with another game-winning drive in the fourth quarter. How does his performance shape the quarterback conversation?
Let’s focus on the exclusive company that Manning put himself in with the win and the MVP award he took home.
Most Super Bowl MVPs
He’s the 11th starting QB to win multiple Super Bowls; of the eight that are eligible for the Hall of Fame, seven have been enshrined.
Manning is just the eighth starting quarterback to win the first two Super Bowls he played in. Only one of the eligible quarterbacks is not in the Hall of Fame.
He’s the only Giants quarterback to win multiple Super Bowls as a starter and he’s first in franchise postseason history in career attempts, completions, passing yards and passing touchdowns.
Manning is one of just five players to win multiple Super Bowl MVP awards, and just the second active player, joining Tom Brady. The other three who have done it are Hall of Fame quarterbacks.
Eli Manning Passing on Giants' Final Drive Past 2 Super Bowls
The win was Manning’s seventh postseason victory -- against just one loss -- in a road or neutral-site game. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that’s the most such wins in NFL history.
Elias also tells us that Manning led his second game-winning drive in the fourth quarter of a Super Bowl, one of just three quarterbacks to pull that off.
It was also his fifth game-winning drive in the fourth quarter of a postseason game, one of just four quarterbacks to have done that since the merger.
Manning was big in the fourth quarter all season long. According to Elias, his 15 fourth-quarter touchdown passes this season are the most in one regular season in NFL history.

He led six game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime, the most in the league this season (from Elias) and the most in a season by a Giants quarterback since the merger in 1970.
Overall, Manning threw for 4,933 yards -- the sixth-most passing yards in a single season in NFL history -- and had perhaps the best season ever by a Giants quarterback.
