When Denver has the ball
In his Broncos debut last week, Manning completed 19-of-26 passes for 253 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 31-19 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a slow start, Denver switched to a no-huddle offense and experienced increased success, scoring 25 points on four drives when going no-huddle.
Broncos offense, Week 1
Manning has performed well on Monday night, especially as of late. He has won nine of his last 10 appearances on Monday Night Football and is 11-3 career. He also has excelled playing indoors away from home. In his last 11 road games in domes, Manning is 9-2 with a 71.1 completion percentage and a 33-6 touchdown-interception ratio.
Wide receiver Demaryius Thomas registered his third career 100-yard game in Week 1 and has been one of the league’s more dangerous receiving threats since Week 13 of last season, averaging 18.6 yards per catch.
When Atlanta has the ball
Ryan is coming off a terrific Week 1 performance against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-24 triumph. His Total QBR of 97.5 led all qualifying quarterbacks for the week.
Ryan has played his best football at the Georgia Dome, where he has gone 26-4 with a 64.8 completion percentage, 49-17 touchdown-interception ratio and 75.3 Total QBR.
Although Roddy White is regarded as the team’s No. 1 wide receiver, Julio Jones has emerged as a serious threat in the passing attack. With six catches for 108 yards and two scores last week, Jones has scored in each of his last five games and has eight touchdowns in that span.
Passing With 3+ WRs On field, Week 1
One of the more interesting things to follow tonight will be the Falcons’ offense with three wide receivers on the field. Ryan completed 81.8 percent of his passes from that formation at Kansas City, but the Broncos hounded Ben Roethlisberger last week when the Steelers used three-wide receiver sets.
Stat of the game
Both teams have struggled recently playing on Monday night. The Broncos have lost three straight on Monday Night Football, with their last win coming in 2009. The Falcons, meanwhile, have lost their last five on Monday night, with four of those defeats coming at the hands of the New Orleans Saints.
