Bucs bring back FB Spencer Larsen

TAMPA, Fla. -- Doug Martin averaged just 2.7 yards per carry in the season-opening loss to the New York Jets and it looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t happy about that.

They signed fullback Spencer Larsen, who was with the team in training camp, on Tuesday and released defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Part of the reason Martin wasn’t able to get on track against the Jets was because fullback Erik Lorig missed the game with a calf injury. The Bucs sometimes used one of their tight ends at fullback and sometimes ran Martin out of a one-back set.

With the Bucs bringing back Larsen, I think that’s a sign that Lorig might not be ready to return yet.
