Bowe suspension another in Titans' favor

Dwayne Bowe had the second-least productive year of his seven-season NFL career in 2013 for the Kansas City Chiefs, with 57 receptions for 673 yards and five touchdowns.

He was not super-threatening with 11.8 yards per catch and a long of 34.

But the Chiefs are better with him than without him, and they will be without him on Sept. 7, when they open the season against the Tennessee Titans at Arrowhead Stadium.

He's suspended for one game for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.

The Titans will also miss Dallas cornerback Orlando Scandrick in Week 2 and Indianapolis pass-rusher Robert Mathis in Week 4. Once his suspension is finalized, Cleveland receiver Josh Gordon is very likely to miss Week 5 in Tennessee.

Donnie Avery, who spent time with the Titans in 2012, is the Chiefs' other starting receiver. The receivers atop the depth chart are currently A.J. Jenkins and Junior Hemingway.
