Oh, he's not on most of those mock draft boards at all. But he's the son of a respected league executive (Washington's Ernie) so you know Dan Grunfeld will get some consideration.
The little Grunfeld is 6-6, 220, and was one hell of a good American Studies student.
Sam Kirchner of the blog Five-Point Bucks has seen Grunfeld play plenty, and checks in with this report:
I saw Dan Grunfeld play in high school many times when he was a senior at Nicolet High just outside of Milwaukee. He WAS pretty damn good, but he tore his ACL at Stanford. I never saw him play at Stanford (no Pac-10 games come to Milwaukee) but his stats from 04-05 when he was healthy are superb:
Obviously this guy can shoot, even though those percentages tanked after his injury. If he's fully recovered, he's more than capable of carving out a niche roster spot as a Kyle Korver type. He's definitely got the connections (dad is former Bucks and Wizards GM Ernie Grunfeld), so he'll get plenty of looks. If he gets picked it will be very late in the 2nd round, and if he doesn't get picked, he will still almost certainly get a shot on a summer league team. It seems like he would be a great zone-buster for a few minutes off the bench every night, and it's always good to see Wisconsin guys get their shine.
