'Big Three' turn up the Heat on Nuggets

LeBron James followed up his 43-point performance with 33 points, while Dwyane Wade added 32, as the Miami Heat defeated the Denver Nuggets.

It was the fourth time this season that James and Wade each scored over 30 points in the same game, tied with Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder for the most such games by teammates this season.

Elias tells us the Heat, as usual, were at their best with the "Big Three" on the court together. In just over 30 minutes when all three were on the floor together, Miami was plus-25. When one of the three was off the court though, the Heat got outscored by 20 points.

Chris Bosh

BoshChris Bosh scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, his fifth straight double-double. In his previous 20 games played he had recorded only four double-doubles.

Bosh also showed off his playmaking abilities recording a season-high six assists. Despite scoring under 20 points, Bosh still accounted for over 30.0 percent of the teams’ points according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Elsewhere around the NBA:

• The Boston Celtics defeated the New Orleans Hornets to move back into a first place tie in the Eastern Conference with the Chicago Bulls. Saturday's game was the second of back-to-back games for the Celtics, snapping a five-game losing streak in such situations. Boston relied on its bench, which outscored New Orleans' bench 39-6.

• Speaking of New Orleans, Chris Paul had an interesting night going 0-for-9 from the field while still recording 15 assists. He is just the third player in the past 25 seasons to take at least eight shots, miss them all, and still record at least 15 assists.

• After seeming like he hit the rookie wall over the past few games, Blake Griffin exploded for 30 points to go along with eight assists and eight rebounds in the Los Angeles Clippers win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was his second game this season reaching those numbers. Over the last 25 seasons the only other Clippers player to have at least two such games in a single season was Ron Harper in 1993-94 season.

• The Memphis Grizzlies went 0-for-9 from three-point range in their win against the Indiana Pacers. It was their most three-point attempts without a make this season. They are the seventh team this season to attempt at least nine three-point field goals without a make. They joined the Bobcats as the only teams' to win those games. In fact, Memphis is now 3-0 when not making a three-point attempt this season.
