Last night the Lakers lost a close one to the Jazz thanks to a rare whopper of an unforced error from Kobe Bryant.
To me, that game didn't tell us much about Bryant in the clutch. His preceding 3 was monumental and his error was innocent and atypical. My writing about Kobe Bryant in crunch time has been about 15-year trends of poor judgment, especially forcing shots against double teams. That really wasn't the case on Tuesday night, when he had a 21-year-old alone in the paint, and no wide-open teammates.
Neverthless, as it unfolded in real time, Twitter was lively with some emotion directed @TrueHoop, starting around the time Bryant hit that 3:
Someone alert @TrueHoop! Crunch time shot for Kobe forthcoming!
@TrueHoop here is your Kobe sucks in crunch time theory to the test. You know he's getting the last shot
Well, @TrueHoop may have a point about Kobe.
