Mark Murphy of the Boston Herald just published the following:
A league source just confirmed that the Celtics and Timberwolves have finalized a deal that will bring Kevin Garnett to Boston in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and two first round draft picks.
Garnett is expected to arrive in Boston this afternoon for a physical.
He says Garnett will sign a three year extension to his existing contract, meaning he'll be in Boston for five years.
Murphy adds that the trade kicker -- and its effect on the luxury tax -- was the niggling issue.
This trade has been reported as done so many times already. Hard to get too excited. But this does seem like new information.
UPDATE: Notice something funny? The above quote does not include Gerald Green. Jeff from CelticsBlog pointed it out to me. But check out the updated story. Bingo, there he is.
UPDATE: Marc Stein now reports that the trade call to the league office has, according to his sources, been completed.
