Redskins sign OL Kevin Kowalski

The Washington Redskins signed offensive lineman Kevin Kowalski to a reserve-futures contract, making him the ninth player signed to such a deal with Washington.

Kowalski made Dallas' roster as an undrafted free agent in 2011 -- in large part because of his ability to play guard and center -- and appeared in 11 games at both positions.

He was a fringe player for Dallas in camp this summer and when he bruised his knee in late July, it meant doom for him. He spent most of 2012 on the physically unable to perform list because of what was described as severe ankle tendinitis that required surgery. The 6-foot-3, 298-pound Kowalski played collegiately at Toledo.
