With Chris Sale going for his ninth consecutive start with 10 or more strikeouts tonight at Fenway Park, Red Sox manager John Farrell called it "an incredible position to be in, one that personally I could never envision." Farrell did strike out 10-plus batters in three of six starts in 1989.

Lue: Celtics tougher to defend than Warriors

Despite being one win away from advancing to face the Warriors in the NBA Finals, Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue said the Celtics are enough of a handful and that he "doesn't even think about" Golden State.

The Boston Celtics announced Wednesday that rookie Jaylen Brown is questionable for Thursday's Game 5 with a right hip pointer. Jae Crowder (groin strain) and Amir Johnson (shoulder sprain) are both probable.

To make room on the 90-man roster for the addition of WR Andrew Hawkins, the Patriots waived WR Devin Street on Wednesday. Street was a longshot to earn a roster spot after the club had claimed him on waivers from the Colts.

Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts scored two runs on wild pitches during Tuesday's 11-6 win vs. the Rangers, becoming the first Boston player to score twice on wild pitches in the same game since Jim Rice did it on May 17, 1984. (Elias Sports Bureau)

Currently tied with Pedro Martinez, Chris Sale has a chance Wednesday to break the record for consecutive starts with 10-plus strikeouts in a season. However, Martinez's eight-game streak in 1999 was slightly more dominant than Sale's two stretches.
