A few thoughts on how picks by the Patriots' AFC East rivals might have a trickle-down effect in New England: QB Sam Darnold (No. 3, Jets) and QB Josh Allen (No. 7, Bills) give those clubs hope that they've found their franchise quarterbacks, while DB Minkah Fitzpatrick (No. 11, Dolphins) is the type of player that helps in the matchup game against various offensive personnel, such as against TE Rob Gronkowski. Meanwhile, as usual, the Patriots are exploring various trade possibilities as they sit at No. 23 and No. 31.

Giannis Antetokounmpo singlehandedly outscored the Celtics over the final 7:30 of the first half and it wasn't like his supporting cast wasn't clicking, too. Greek Freak had nine points on 4-of-5 shooting while the Celtics mustered just eight points on 3-of-13 shooting. Bucks close on 24-8 run and lead by nine at intermission.

Celtics starting point guard Terry Rozier really struggled in Games 3 and 4 in Milwaukee (19 total points on 5 of 19 FG, 3 of 15 3PT). But Rozier banked in an early 3 in Game 6 and put up 11 first-quarter points on 4-of-6 shooting with three 3-pointers.

NHL to Marchand: Stop licking other players

Bruins star Brad Marchand, who appeared to lick the face of Leafs forward Leo Komarov in Boston's Game 1 win over Toronto, has been told by the NHL to not repeat that particular antic again.

For the first time since 2015, the Patriots enter the first night of the draft with a first-round pick, which has raised the excitement level among New England fans. The Patriots own the 23rd overall pick, which they acquired in the Brandin Cooks trade, as well as their original 31st overall pick. Add in two second-rounders (43, 63) and a third-rounder (95) and the team has a great opportunity ahead of itself to add talent to the roster.

MLB upholds Kelly suspension; Austin's cut to 4

Joe Kelly's appeal of a six-game ban stemming from his throwing at the Yankees' Tyler Austin was denied by MLB, and the Boston pitcher started serving the penalty Thursday against Toronto. Austin's five-game ban was trimmed to four games.

From the plan-your-evening department (assuming no trades): Last year's first round lasted 3:34, so time projection for Patriots' pick at No. 23 would be around 10:30-10:45 p.m. ET, and No. 31 at around 11:20-11:35 p.m. ET.

Boston Breakthrough

Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga interviewed for the New York Knicks coaching vacancy last week between Games 3 and 4 of Boston's first-round series vs. the Milwaukee Bucks. "They're in the middle of their process. We're in the middle of our process. I appreciated them coming out here. Obviously all my focus is on the Milwaukee Bucks."
