The Lions are known for their QB and passing game. Their defense is probably underrated. Detroit has held opponents to 20 or fewer points 11 times since the start of last season. That is tied for second in the NFL behind only the New England Patriots (12).

Andrew Benintendi, native of suburban Cincinnati, will have sizable rooting contingent here. "I don't know anyone who's not coming," the Red Sox left fielder said, uncertain of an exact number. Benintendi was honored at his old school in Madeira, Ohio, which had the fourth-grade chorus sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" and "Sweet Caroline."

The Patriots are signing quarterback Taylor Heinicke to their practice squad, per a source. Heinicke, of Old Dominion, entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings in 2015. In New England, he adds a third layer of depth at quarterback, as the Patriots only have two players at the position in Tom Brady and Jimmy Garoppolo.

ESPN Stats & Info

Pats heavily favored at home

The Texans haven't beaten the Patriots in nearly a decade, and ESPN's FPI doesn't see much changing in Sunday's meeting, giving New England the highest percentage chance to win out of any Week 3 matchup.

The Patriots have signed undrafted rookie WR Riley McCarron to their practice squad, according to a source. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound McCarron, who projects to the slot and also has experience as a punt returner and kickoff returner, was released from the Texans practice squad on Sept. 18. The Patriots play the Texans on Sunday.
