The Red Sox and free agent slugger J.D. Martinez appear to be ready to officially announce his addition to the team's lineup, with ESPN sources and multiple reports saying a news conference has been scheduled for Monday morning.

"When they first asked me [for my list], I wasn't going to hold them hostage or anything like that. But I wanted to go to a place that wanted me and that had a great chance to win, and I think Boston fits those two things perfectly." – Rick Nash on his trade to the Boston Bruins, whom he said were atop the trade list he handed the NY Rangers. He was in the lineup for the Bruins on Sunday against Buffalo, on a line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci.

Although Red Sox manager Alex Cora declined Saturday to name an Opening Day starter, there's no suspense over the status of Eduardo Rodriguez and Steven Wright. Both pitchers will almost certainly begin the season on the disabled list as they recover from knee surgery, Cora told reporters today. Hector Velazquez, Roenis Elias and Brian Johnson are candidates for the fifth-starter spot, which will come up April 2 at the Marlins.
