Red Sox 6, Angels 2: In his latest bit of dominance, Chris Sale also made history. Sale tossed six scoreless innings and struck out nine batters to reach 200 strikeouts for the season. Chris Sale is the fourth pitcher in major-league history to reach 200 strikeouts in 20 or fewer starts. Randy Johnson hit that mark three straight years from 1999-2001, which Pedro Martínez (2000) and Nolan Ryan (1977) each did so once.

Five-run first inning -- before Chris Sale throws a pitch, no less -- is Red Sox's biggest inning since eight-run seventh on July 2 at Toronto in 15-1 win over Blue Jays.

Former first-round pick Jared Sullinger is in New York this weekend playing in The Basketball Tournament, looking to show NBA teams that he's in top shape again. Sullinger, a free agent, was injured in the preseason last year in Toronto and returned to the team in poor shape. He was subsequently moved to Phoenix, which released him. Sullinger is playing in the tournament, which has a $2 million prize on the line, with the Scarlet and Gray -- an Ohio State alumni team. The Scarlet & Gray play tomorrow at LIU Brooklyn in the TBT Super 16 round.

The Patriots have waived guard Chase Farris with a non-football injury designation. Farris, who was on the practice squad in 2016, was running with the second unit in spring practices. The club is probably thinner than Bill Belichick desires along the interior of the offensive line, which is a spot to monitor for depth in training camp.
