Just how hot has Dustin Pedroia been?

ESPN Stats & Info and the Elias Sports Bureau break it down:

  • Pedroia has at least four hits in his last three home games, which is a Red Sox franchise record (Elias)
  • At one point Saturday, Pedroia recorded a hit in 11 straight at-bats, which started back on Thursday. That mark was just one shy of tying the MLB record, which has been done three times. Walt Dropo was the last do so back in 1952 for the Tigers (Elias)
  • In his past 3 games, Pedroia raised his batting average from .306 to .320. He went from 11th to second in the AL batting race

Price is finally right for Red Sox

With a win against the Royals on Saturday, David Price is now 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA in his last four starts. Prior to that stretch, he had been winless dating back to July 10 (five starts over that time), ESPN Stats & Info notes.

Mookie Betts ends an 8-3 Red Sox victory with a shoestring catch. Betts, Xander Bogaerts and Hanley Ramirez went deep, Dustin Pedroia notched four more hits, and David Price grinded through six innings, as Boston remains one game behind Toronto in the AL East.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Dustin Pedroia grounds into a double play to end the eighth inning, ending his streak of hits at 11 consecutive at-bats, one short of tying the major-league record. Also, Pedroia's on-base streak is stopped at 12 straight plate appearances.

Make it 10 straight at-bats with a hit and 11 consecutive plate appearances on base for Dustin Pedroia, who is locked in like it's 2008.

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

More on Dustin Pedroia's on-base streak, up to 10 consecutive plate appearances: His career-high for reaching base safely is 11 plate appearances in 2008, his MVP season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The last Red Sox player to reach in 10 straight PAs: David Ortiz in 2013. Kevin Youkilis reached in 13 straight in 2009.

Dustin Pedroia has tied his career-best streak with a hit in nine consecutive at-bats, according to the Elias Sports Bureau (h/t ESPN Stats & Info). He also did that in August 2008, his MVP season. Pedroia also has reached base safely in 10 consecutive plate appearances, including his fourth-inning walk Friday night.

Xander Bogaerts is figuring out that good things can happen when he pulls the ball, too. He gets a middle-in 97-mph heater from Royals starter Danny Duffy and launches it over Green Monster to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Bogaerts loves taking the ball the other way to right field, a la his idol Derek Jeter. But all 16 of his homers have been pulled.
