Dustin Pedroia is absent from Red Sox's lineup one day after manager John Farrell said the second baseman would've played if not for a rainout. Pedroia has been dealing with a sore left knee and ankle since he was spiked by Orioles' Manny Machado on Friday night in Baltimore. Pedroia didn't play Saturday or Sunday.

Two of the Patriots' all-time best players on and off the field -- Andre Tippett and Matthew Slater -- are scheduled to announce the team's third-round picks at the NFL Draft. Tippett was chosen as part of the NFL Legends Community, while Slater gets the nod as a past team winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

Bruins will bring back Cassidy as head coach

The Boston Bruins are bringing Bruce Cassidy back next season, dropping the interim tag from his title as a reward for leading the team back to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons.

Sean Payton said he thinks this is deepest defensive draft he's seen as Saints head coach – which is good, since he said it's "no secret" that the Saints' top goal this year is to improve their defense. … As for the possible Malcolm Butler trade, Payton said, "It's nothing new. Look, he's with New England, and I don't think anything's changed. I don't see anything being imminent."
