Patriots longtime special teams captain Matthew Slater is visiting the Steelers today, according to ESPN's Field Yates. The thought of Slater in a different uniform didn't seem likely entering free agency. Perhaps it is now. Slater initially joined the Patriots as a fifth-round draft choice out of UCLA in 2008, and has been with the team since.

The Patriots are hosting free-agent offensive tackle Matt Tobin on a visit Friday, ESPN's Field Yates reports. The 6-foot-6, 303-pound Tobin has played for the Eagles (2013-2016) and Seahawks (2017), appearing in 57 career games with 21 starts. He played in college at Iowa under Kirk Ferentz, a former assistant on Bill Belichick's coaching staff with the Browns in the early 1990s. With starting left tackle Nate Solder leaving in free agency, the Patriots are exploring their options at the position, starting with Tobin. Free agents LaAdrian Waddle and Cameron Fleming, who played for the Patriots in 2017, are other considerations as well.

The Patriots are hosting free-agent cornerback Delvin Breaux on Friday. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds, Breaux was a restricted free agent and did not receive a tender from the Saints, which made him a free agent. He did not play last season due to injury (fibula) after starting 24 games between the 2015 and 2016 seasons. Breaux had originally signed with the Saints in 2015 after playing in the Arena League and Canadian Football League. The news of Breaux's visit was first reported by Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer, who noted that Breaux previously visited with the Broncos.
