Bill Belichick said earlier Wednesday that the Patriots would have some roster moves later in the day, and one of them is the release of LB Jonathan Freeny. He had been signed last week and filled the extra spot created when TE Rob Gronkowski was serving a one-game NFL suspension. With Gronkowski back with the team, and his roster exemption ending Wednesday, the Patriots needed to make a move.
