Twins 4, Red Sox 1: Rick Porcello's nightmare season continues. Porcello gave up two more first-inning runs, allowed another homer and lost for the 10th time in 14 decisions. The Red Sox offense fell flat against Twins lefty Adalberto Mejia and three relievers, mustering only seven hits. Max Kepler hit a two-run homer for the Twins, who remained a half-game off the pace in the AL Central.

"You're kidding me," Ramirez said. "It took you long enough to tell me that. I didn't know that, for real. So OK, after this conversation, let's see what's going to happen now. I'll say it: Bring it, OK? I didn't know. I swear."

Isaiah Thomas remains a relentless social media recruiter. On Wednesday, Thomas left a humorous Instagram comment about Blake Griffin in the aftermath of the Chris Paul trade to Houston. Then both Thomas and his wife, Kayla, liked a "dream team" photoshop that featured Thomas next to Gordon Hayward and Paul George.

Drew Pomeranz on coming back after the rain: "We kind of said if it's more than an hour or if it's past 10 o'clock it would be kind of iffy. Of course, it's a 10 o'clock start time. I'm like, 'Well, s---, it's a hard decision to make, putting it right on the time when we said we wouldn't go over.' But I felt pretty good." Said he threw, rode bike, ran sprints in batting cage during 76-minute delay.

Red Sox 9, Twins 2: Don't look now, but Drew Pomeranz has been Boston's second-best starting pitcher lately. Pomeranz waited out a 76-minute rain delay in second inning Tuesday night and stayed in the game to deliver five solid innings and save the bullpen. In his last seven starts, Pomeranz is 4-1 with a 2.70 ERA, 44 strikeouts and 9 walks in 40 innings. Christian Vázquez and Chris Young homered for Red Sox, who reclaimed sole possession of first place in AL East.
