Celtics working on two-way deal with Bird

According to the Boston Globe, the Celtics are working on a two-way deal with second-round pick Jabari Bird. The 56th overall pick in the draft played four years at California and put up 10.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in Las Vegas Summer League.

The story of Day 1 from Patriots training camp was the overflowing crowd, which forced the club to open the Gillette Stadium ramps overlooking the practice fields. The Patriots announced the attendance as 15,349. "Nothing surprises you with our fans," wide receiver Julian Edelman said. "It's certainly more than we had at my college games, so that's pretty cool. We always feel and love the support that we get here in this community."

The Patriots filled the final open spot on their 90-man roster by signing wide receiver Tony Washington of Appalachian State. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Washington played in six games for the Jacksonville Jaguars between the 2015 and 2016 seasons. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Colts in 2014.

Bill Belichick said Rob Gronkowski's recovery from back surgery was completed by the start of the team's offseason program in the spring. Asked if the next step for him is how he responds to contact/full pads, Belichick said, "There are no limits that I'm aware of."
