Marcus Morris knows how to endear himself to a new fan base. During an introductory conference call on Wednesday, Morris said: "How could I be upset about going to the Boston Celtics? Paul Pierce has always been my favorite player." Morris said he has reached out to Pierce. "The first thing he said to me when we talked, he said I was gonna love it [in Boston]," said Morris. "That's all I needed to hear."

Gordon Hayward is just one of 11 signings the Celtics will make this summer (if you include Paul Pierce's ceremonial signing/retirement). Boston formally signed veteran big-man Aron Baynes on Wednesday. The Celtics have also inked rookies Jayson Tatum, Ante Zizic, Abdel Nader, and Semi Ojeleye. Deals for rookies Guerschon Yabusele and Daniel Theis should be completed soon. Boston also signed Kadeem Allen to one of two available two-way contracts.

As expected, the Red Sox have released Pablo Sandoval. They tried to trade Sandoval before designating him for assignment last week, but no takers.
