Rutledge headed to 7-day DL

The Red Sox announced a series of moves on Saturday, which included placing INF Josh Rutledge on the seven-day concussion disabled list. Boston also added RHP Doug Fister to the roster, optioning Hector Velazquez to Triple-A Pawtucket, and selected the contract of Tzu-Wei Lin from Double-A Portland. To make room for Lin, Brock Holt (vertigo) was transferred to the 60-day DL.

Red Sox 9, Angels 4: Hanley Ramirez picked a perfect way to pay tribute to David Ortiz. Ramirez belted a two-run homer in the fourth inning and Sandy Leon added a two-run shot in the sixth to lift the Red Sox to a series-opening victory after retiring Ortiz's No. 34. But the most encouraging development for the Sox was the performance of Rick Porcello, who tossed six strong innings before allowing three runs in the seventh.
