Could we see Moncada in Boston soon?

Yoan Moncada could get the call next month to help as a pinch runner or bench option against southpaws. However, Keith Law cautions that he's only 21, isn't on the 40-man roster and has struck out in 30 percent of his at-bats since he reached Double-A. Possible September call-ups (Insider)

The secret to Porcello's home success

Rick Porcello is 13-0 at Fenway this season, and his offense and defense behind him are a good reason why. It also doesn't hurt that he's drastically cut down on his rate of homers allowed.

Brady: Watching September games will be 'very challenging' (0:44)

Tom Brady on Jimmy Garoppolo: "I love being with Jimmy. I've enjoyed every day that we've spent with him. I wish him the very best, obviously, for our team, for him personally. When you see people that it means a lot to, you always want them to succeed as well. It will be tough to watch, but I'll be excited to watch and excited to learn and hopefully when I come back in October I'll be a better player than I am today."

Tom Brady says "we'll see" when asked how he will stay sharp during a four-game suspension. He said he doesn't plan to share what he will do over that time.

Betts, Ortiz make for rare 30-HR pair

The 23-year-old Mookie Betts joined 40-year-old teammate David Ortiz in the 30-homer club on Monday. The 1987 Tigers are the only other team in MLB history that has had a 40-year-old player and a player under the age of 25 each hit 30 HRs in the same season, per the Elias Sports Bureau.

Betts, Porcello shine as Red Sox top Rays (0:59)

Scott Lauber ESPN Staff Writer

Travis Shaw interrupted his second-half slump by getting three hits Monday night. But the biggest reason the slumping Red Sox third baseman likely will be in the lineup Tuesday night is that the Rays are starting another right-handed pitcher. Shaw has been sitting against lefties after playing every day for much of the season. "It's hard. You feel like you've got to get a hit to get back in the lineup the next day," Shaw said. "I've got to try to stop pressing."

Red Sox win their kind of game, taking an early lead and playing comfortably from ahead thanks to good enough starting pitching. In this case, Rick Porcello gives up three runs in seven innings and notches his 18th win in a 9-4 victory over the Rays. Boston remains two games off Toronto's pace in the AL East.
