Jackie Bradley Jr. has three hits in his last 34 at-bats and is 25-for-90 (.167) in August and 32-for-148 (.216) since the All-Star break. So, for the first time since May 13, he's batting in the No. 9 spot for the Red Sox tonight vs. the Royals. "There's been some pitches up in the strike zone where he's not getting to," manager John Farrell said. "There's been times he's expanded below the strike zone on some offspeed pitches. He's been kind of all-or-nothing."

With rookie QB Jacoby Brissett entering he game with 3;48 remaining in the third quarter, it should be the end of the night for both Jimmy Garoppolo and Tom Brady. Garoppolo started, played the first the series, gave way to Brady for four series, then played three more series (not including half-ending kneeldowns). In all, Garoppolo played 27 snaps and Brady 16. The Patriots didn't score with Garoppolo, and had nine points with Brady.

Jimmy Garoppolo started, played the first three series (13 snaps), and then gave way to Tom Brady. It was Brady playing the next four drives (16 snaps), before Garoppolo came back for a final non-kneel-down series in the first half (3 snaps). The Patriots scored 9 points with Brady, and zero with Garoppolo, although a missed 30-yard FG early would have put points on the board for Garoppolo.

In a sign that his roster spot might be in jeopardy, veteran DT Terrance Knighton has not played in the first half for the Patriots.
