BOSTON -- Red Sox reliever Hideki Okajima will begin a minor-league rehab stint for Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday in Buffalo, N.Y. The lefty is scheduled to pitch Saturday and Monday.
Okajima has been on the disabled list with a right hamstring strain since Aug. 6 and he tossed three side sessions this week.
"I think he's OK," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "When I say 'OK,' he's had no setbacks and nothing hurts. When he threw the ball, he didn't have 100 percent command. He felt physically fine but his command wasn't where it needs to be for him to be successful, and that's why we're sending him out to pitch."
Also the rehab front, catcher Kevin Cash (left hamstring) is playing for Pawtucket Friday night and will play again on Sunday for Single-A Lowell.
